The Wigtown Martyrs Walk

Cairnsmore of Fleet
The Cairnsmore of Fleet is the most southerly two thousand foot hill in Scotland and a magnificent viewpoint for the Cree Estuary and the Solway. It makes for a popular and fairly straightforward hill walk.

Kirroughtree is one of the world class 7stanes mountain bike venues. It features a superb variety of green, blue and red graded trails, an extreme downhill section for the serious experts, and a skills area for honing your technique.

National Cycling Routes
National Cycle Route 73 passes through Wigtown.
The southern part of National Cycle Network Route 73 connects Newton Stewart in Dumfries and Galloway with Wigtown, Glenluce and the coastal town of Stranraer at the base of Loch Ryan.
The road network in Galloway – apart from the A75 – is relatively free from traffic and there are miles of quiet roads to be enjoyed on two wheels.

Local Fishing
Wigtown and the surrounding area provides a wide range of fishing, Sea and Beach, Rivers and Lochs. Salmon and Trout fishing is available on the River Bladnoch. Organised boat trips or boat hire, tuition and permits are available. The Galloway Angling Centre is a great place for information and directions, as well as angling equipment.
