This pleasant level walk is a gentle tour around the surrounding landscape of Wigtown. It includes a walk along Lover’s Lane, a visit to the Martyrs’ Stake and then along parts of the old railway line that led to the Bladnoch Creamery with time to admire the marshlands and rich bird life of the Cree estuary and Bladnoch River. .
Terrain
The route is over paths and minor roads; the paths can be muddy at times as they are used by agricultural machinery. The path along the Bladnoch River will be gated during lambing season – April through to June. The route follows official core paths throughout.
